To: Melvin Cooper, Pilot

Melvin Cooper was my father. This tragedy occurred on his anniversary day with my mother and volunteered to come in on his day off to attempt the rescue as he had a history of never hesitating to do what he can to save others. I did not have the pleasure of knowing him as this happened 99 days before I was born that year. Also left behind are mother Kim and my sister Julie who was 12 at the time. My condolences to everyone else who lost someone in this incident I love you father and I hope to live a life even half as heroic as yours and make you proud in some way.
